Inniskillin 2007 Reserve Series Cabernet Franc
Another delicious 2007 vintaged wine hits the Ontario market and sees the inside of the LCBO. This time it’s from one of Ontario’s pioneering wineries, showing everyone they’ve still got the chops. There is some nice vanilla oak, plum and cherry on the nose. On the palate it tastes sweet (with red fruit flavours, not sugar) and finishes smooth with cherry and a late replay of medium chocolate – and there’s nothing wrong with that. Price: $16.95
Available at: LCBO, through Vintages
Malivoire 2008 Chardonnay
The Malivoire Chardonnay has been put into the Vintages Essentials collection, which means it should be available at Vintages all the time, of course vintage dates change without notice. I found the 2008 Chardonnay to be quite lovely with soft, supple fruit and easy-on-the-oak treatment Muted pear, peach and apple notes dominate with a nice bit of acidity to tie it all together. Price: $19.95
Available at: LCBO, through Vintages
Chateau des Charmes 2006 Vidal Icewine
With smells of apple, peach and honey, and a palate to match, this is an excellent example of how Vidal Icewine should be made. Factor in the lengthy finish that sticks around in the mouth long after you swallow, and you’ve got yourself the perfect dessert wine. Price: $25.95 / 200ml
Available at: LCBO, through Vintages
