Assistant retail manager
Full-time
*One Year Contract*

Primary Responsibilities:

Supports the Retail Manager in ensuring retail areas under their management are appropriately stocked to meet member interests and needs.

Maintains attractive, orderly appearance of these outlets with particular emphasis on merchandising.

Initiates and oversees controls in the outlets such that losses and shrinkage are minimized and total profits are maximized.

Keeps Retail Manager apprised of operational challenges and concerns.

Hires and trains the necessary staff required for the operation of the outlets. Manages and supervises the duties, performances and schedules of the retail staff. Ensures adherence to standard operating procedures.

Works with the Retail Manager to develop an annual marketing/promotion plan for sales.

Works with the Retail Manager in forecasting and management of the budget for the retail operation.

Maintain a system of checks on business transactions.

Ensure that staff are taught racquet stringing and repairs (with particular emphasis on achieving certification) to ensure quality stringing and repairs are available to the membership.

Ensure monthly inventory counts are conducted in a timely and responsible fashion and investigate and correct discrepancies in the count.

Educate retail sales staff on customer service as well as product lines, ensuring exceptional customer service and up-to-date product knowledge.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, highly organized, flexible, a problem solver, have strong interpersonal skills, be a team player and take full responsibility for their job and their actions.

Aptitude for and experience in marketing, promotion, and merchandising for a high-end market and clientele.

Excellent verbal, written, managerial and organizational skills with the ability to communicate with various departments and levels within the organization.

Be available for some weekend of evening shifts and assist with special events, month end inventory procedures and other weekly or seasonal activities.

Highly customer/member service orientated.

Pleasant personality and cooperative nature.

Computer aptitude with an ability to use Word and basic Excel spreadsheets. Experience with POS software is a definite asset.
